Last weekend, the Tea Drops team gathered for a delicious brunch to celebrate our successes as a business and connect on a personal level. We are growing in so many wonderful ways and it was so refreshing to take a moment from our busy schedules to relax and enjoy great food and good company.
Speaking of being refreshed, Sashee gifted each of us with a pot of goat’s milk lotion from a delightful Oakland,CA based company called Gracious Goat, run by Kim Gracianette who handcrafts an array of wonderful, natural skincare products including body lotions, body and foot creams, bath salts, and lip balm. Infused with all natural ingredients and harnessing the power of goat’s milk. These products are chemical-free, handmade, and fresh-smelling alternatives to skincare.
I absolutely fell in love with my goat’s milk cream as soon as I applied it. I do have dryness and so taking a moment to rub some of this stuff on my arms and legs was not only an experience for the senses, but it really helped to moisturize my skin in a way that felt wholesome and healthy. As a testament, I didn’t hesitate when my son wanted to try some too (which he did and loved the smell).
I’ve never used goat’s milk products and I was enthralled and delighted with what I discovered and so I wanted to share a little bit about what I gleaned on the benefits of using goat’s milk in products for the body:
Lactic acid: You might know lactic acid as that pesky little thing our bodies produce that gives us cramps when we exercise and over-extend ourselves. However, in the realm of natural skincare it’s a glorious alpha hydroxyl acid that helps to break down dead skin cells and promoting skin rejuvenation. There’s nothing better than resurfacing our skin and aiding in revealing our newest, most radiant skin.
Vitamin bath for your face and body: Goat’s milk contains vitamin A which is hailed for its anti-wrinkle properties. Unsaturated fatty acids, amino acids, and citric acids also keep our skin healthy and nourished. It also boats vitamins B, C, and E, which are all wonderful for bright, soft skin.
pH Balance: Having worked in skincare for a bit, I learned the vital importance of keeping your skin’s pH level happy and everyone’s natural pH is, of course, different and unique within degrees. However, when it’s thrown off, which often happens with harsh chemical-based commercial skincare products, the same kind of symptoms arise when your body chemistry is thrown off. These symptoms include acne, breakouts, and troubled skin.
Goat’s milk mirrors the pH of skin incredibly well, though, so using goat’s milk infused products can help reduce the negative effects of other harsher (and more expensive) cleansers or lotions. On that note, many dermatologists recommend goat’s milk as a natural way to reduce acne in particular.
I love it when people around me share their new local businesses with me because I have the chance to discover a lovely product and engage myself in someone's craft, which was definitely the case here with the goat’s milk body products. Goat’s milk is a healthy, natural, and economical skincare staple.
We want to start sharing our other small businesses favorites with you on a regular basis.
